Yoga Teaching Philosophy

I am on a teaching sabbatical for 2018 but am continuing with my personal and family practice. I am only taking on clients who wish to work on an individual basis.

I aim to make yoga informative, interactive, fun and deeply relaxing. I tailor the level and content to individual ability, experience and interest. In general, i like to incorporate an interplay of fluid sequences and static postures, like the ebb and flow of the sea, moving meditations to quieten the mind and senses, and restorative postures to induce relaxation.

A wide variety of modifications are offered so that everyone, regardless of fitness or ability are able to participate fully. Breath work, pranayama and a relaxation period are also included. Meditation, philosophy and other yoga practices may be included.

I encourage students to work with awareness and within their own ability. I like to explain the health benefits of our practice and give lots of coaching tips working with core stability with fluid respiration. I also work with subtle physical adjustments unless a student prefers a ‘hands off’ approach.

Students who want to progress towards some of the more challenging postures will be supported to do so safely.
